What is an Instagram grid maker?

What does the sliced output look like?

Why are my exported tiles numbered in reverse?

Instagram populates your grid from newest at the top-left to oldest at the bottom-right. To make the assembled image read correctly, you have to post the bottom-right tile FIRST and the top-left tile LAST. ImgShifter auto-numbers exports in that posting order: imgshifter-01.jpg is the bottom-right tile, imgshifter-09.jpg is the top-left (for a 3x3 grid). Post them in numerical order and the grid resolves perfectly.

Why 4:5 tiles at 1080 x 1350?

1080 x 1350 (4:5) is Instagram's recommended portrait post size - the tallest format the feed allows. Every tile in the grid uses this exact resolution so the assembled image gets maximum vertical real estate as people scroll. Templates are 3 columns wide because Instagram's profile grid is always 3 columns: a 3x3 export is 3240 x 4050 of total artwork, a 3x6 is 3240 x 8100.

Which grid template should I use?

3x1 (3240 x 1350) is a horizontal banner. 3x2 (3240 x 2700) is a half-feed. 3x3 (3240 x 4050) is the classic puzzle. 3x4 (3240 x 5400), 3x5 (3240 x 6750), and 3x6 (3240 x 8100) are 'giant feed' layouts often used for product launches or campaigns. Custom rows and columns up to 10x10 are available for advanced layouts.

Can I crop or reposition the image inside the grid?

Yes. After picking a template, drag the image inside the grid frame and use the zoom slider to scale it. The grid lines stay locked to 3:4 cells - what you see is exactly how the assembled tiles will look on your profile.

Does my photo get uploaded anywhere?
